The other three, still motivated, kept on. A few thousand feet higher as they were crossing an ice bridge, it began to crackle and fragment. One of them said to hell with it and left. The other two, still motivated kept on as the ice bridge collapsed after they reached the other side. As they neared the summit a huge yeti came out and began roaring at the pair. One of them said to hell with it and left. The other gave the yeti some jerky and kept on. He reached the summit and was greeted with an overwhelming display of lavish gold treasure!”

I didn’t get it at first. Then it HIT me! My grandma was telling me that when the going gets tough, you keep on going because there is always a treasure awaiting you on the other side of adversity! My first day back at the office was interesting….

As I walked in I noticed that my boss seemed quite busy, and he did not grill me for being 2 minutes late like he would usually have done. I sat down and began work, and our network crashed.

The network admin was out on vacation and everybody was scrambling. My boss was digging through the yellow pages and was looking for a sub contractor to come out and fix the problem.

I had some background in computers, and I was feeling quite adventurous. I went into the server room, and I found the problem quite easily. One of the cables going into the server had come loose, I guess from somebody tripping over it, and not being able to figure out where to plug it back in.

I popped in the cord, and rebooted the server. Then I heard one of my coworkers shout, “WAIT! It's back up!!” The boss came flying into the server and saw me there sitting at the server looking up at him startled!

He barked, “Did you fix this?” I nodded yes, fearing the worst, and his face cracked a huge smile! He came over to me and shook my hand, then said “This will not be forgotten.”

Two weeks later, I was working with the IT section of our company at nearly double my original salary!
